Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has reignited debate in the crypto space with a bold prediction: Ethereum could become obsolete within the next decade and a half, following a path similar to now-defunct tech icons like BlackBerry and Myspace.<\/p>\n

While layer 2 solutions like Optimism, Arbitrum, and Base have been praised for offloading traffic from the main chain, Hoskinson argued that these platforms are \u201csiphoning value\u201d from Ethereum\u2019s core layer, leading to what he described as \u201cecosystem fragmentation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe layer twos will continue to suckle out all of the alpha,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd then people will start fighting.\u201d \u2013 Hoskinson said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Without unified governance, Hoskinson warned, Ethereum risks evolving into a patchwork of semi-autonomous systems that erode the protocol\u2019s network effects and reduce its long-term viability.<\/p>\n
