Citi<\/span><\/a> plans to integrate its blockchain-based token services platform with its clearing solution.<\/span><\/p>\n The integration will create a 24\/7, multibank cross-border instant payments capability for Citi\u2019s institutional customers in the U.K. and U.S., the bank said Monday (Sept. 29), calling the solution <\/span>an industry first<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIn an increasingly \u2018always on\u2019 financial landscape, global commerce doesn\u2019t take weekends off and neither should payments,\u201d\u00a0<\/span>Debopama Sen<\/span><\/a>, Citi\u2019s head of payments, services, said in a news release.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cLeveraging our digital proprietary global network, we\u2019re enabling 24\/7, near instant cross-border payments across the Citi network and our financial institution clients \u2013 helping corporates and financial institutions move millions of dollars in a matter of seconds.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n According to the release, the integration expands Citi\u2019s real-time 24\/7 network and lets corporate and financial institution clients initiate payment transactions and manage liquidity almost instantaneously across Citi and non-Citi accounts worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cCiti\u2019s 24\/7 USD Clearing solution facilitates active transactions for over 250 banks across more than 40 markets, enabling their end clients to benefit from round-the-clock connectivity to Citi\u2019s network,\u201d the release added. \u201cFurthermore, Citi\u2019s multinational clients can now benefit from rapid 24\/7 transfer of funds to suppliers and third parties who hold accounts within Citi\u2019s expanding 24\/7 USD Clearing network.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Advertisement: Scroll to Continue<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Although the offering is rolling out to clients in the U.S. and U.K., Citi says it plans to expand the service to other parts of the world eventually.<\/span><\/p>\n The news follows Citi\u2019s recent integration of its <\/span>cross-border payments solution<\/span><\/a> with <\/span>Dandelion\u2019s<\/span><\/a> digital wallet network.<\/span><\/p>\n
