Source: CoinGecko<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After the announcement, the price of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/prices\/ripple\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">XRP<\/a> rose 4.1% in 24 hours to $2.94, and is up 2.2% over the past week.<\/p>\n<p>While the exact reason behind the departure remains unclear, Schwartz said he plans to spend more time with his family and also hinted he will stay close to the XRP ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to spending more time with the kids and grandkids and going back to the hobbies I set aside. But be warned, I\u2019m not going away from the XRP community. You haven\u2019t seen the last of me (now, or ever),\u201d Schwartz wrote in the X post.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mb-4\">\n<div>\n<article class=\"yt-lite lyt-activated\" data-title=\"Revisiting Ripple: New Stablecoin, Airdrops, Network Attacks, and The SEC Case\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/8zh0UAlZ2Ag\/hqdefault.jpg);--aspect-ratio:56.25%\"><button type=\"button\" class=\"lty-playbtn\" aria-label=\"Watch Revisiting Ripple: New Stablecoin, Airdrops, Network Attacks, and The SEC Case\"\/><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" title=\"Revisiting Ripple: New Stablecoin, Airdrops, Network Attacks, and The SEC Case\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/8zh0UAlZ2Ag?mute=1&#038;enablejsapi=1\"><\/iframe><\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Schwartz also confirmed that he will join Ripple\u2019s board of directors and keep working on the XRP Ledger, or XRPL, which he helped launch as one of the blockchain\u2019s key architects.<\/p>\n<h2>XRPL Brings New Updates<\/h2>\n<p>In late July, Schwartz <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/news\/blockchains\/ripple-cto-admits-even-ripple-can-t-use-xrpl-dex-as-xrp-faces-longtime-fan-s-scrutiny\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">admitted<\/a> that XRP\u2019s adoption \u201chas been very slow\u201d but attributed it partly to compliance, pointing out that \u201cEven Ripple can&#8217;t use the XRPL DEX for payments yet because we can&#8217;t be sure a terrorist won&#8217;t provide the liquidity for payment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In August, The Defiant <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/news\/regulation\/sec-drops-ripple-appeal-signaling-shift-in-crypto-regulation-but-uncertainty-remains\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">reported<\/a> that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) alongside Ripple jointly dropped their appeals, effectively ending a five-year legal battle that started in 2020, when the SEC sued Ripple for selling XRP, the native token of Ripple&#8217;s payment network, as unregistered securities.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, XRP Ledger is pushing further to woo blockchain developers with a new token standard on the mainnet, designed to boost DeFi adoption.<\/p>\n<p>According to XRPL\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/xrpl.org\/docs\/concepts\/tokens\/fungible-tokens\/multi-purpose-tokens\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">documentation<\/a>, the new standard, so-called Multi-Purpose Tokens \u2014 or just MPTs \u2014 are a type of fungible token on XRPL that allows developers to create tokens with such features as compliance, control, and metadata built in without extra code needed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ripple\u2019s long-time CTO David Schwartz is stepping down from his current role, joining the company\u2019s board of directors.
