From boardrooms to earning calls, AI replacing tech jobs is the new hot topic of discussion, with many US CEOs warning about the potential impact the new technology could have on employment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-1\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<p>However, a new study from the Yale University appeared to bust that myth, saying that the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/companies\/news\/paul-tudor-jones-fears-ai-job-losses-will-worsen-social-division-11749667802650.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"AI job loss\">AI job loss<\/a> frenzy is more of a myth than fact.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-2\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<h2>AI job loss: What did the Yale study say?<\/h2>\n<p>The Yale report says that the spooked reaction at the Silicon Valley and other tech hubs of the world relating to AI replacing jobs at a large scale remains speculative.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-3\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<p>\u201cWhile anxiety over the<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/technology\/tech-news\/is-openai-coming-for-linkedin-chatgpt-maker-plans-ai-jobs-platform-aims-to-certify-10-million-workers-by-2030-11757038963574.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\" effects of AI on today\u2019s labor market \"> effects of AI on today\u2019s labor market <\/a>is widespread, our data suggests it remains largely speculative,\u201d according to the study from Yale\u2019s Budget Lab, a policy research centre on economics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-4\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<p>The report has been based on researches&#8217; analysis of US job data from the past 33 months since ChatGPT got released in 2022, the employment status of college graduates, and how exposed different workers at different levels are to AI.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-5\" class=\"storyPage_alsoRead__ZE9yL\"><strong>Also Read<\/strong> <!-- -->|<!-- --> <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/ai\/artificial-intelligence\/ai-isn-t-really-stealing-jobs-yet-that-doesn-t-mean-we-re-ready-for-it-11755834528916.html\">AI isn\u2019t really stealing jobs yet. That doesn\u2019t mean we\u2019re ready for it.<\/a><\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-6\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<h2>Are you immune to AI?<\/h2>\n<p>In one of the analyses, researchers compared three groups of workers with varying levels of exposure to AI \u2014 high, medium and low. The researchers tracked if there have been any changes to the share in their workforce, only to find that the percentage did not budge a lot. Surprisingly, researchers found that the US labour market&#8217;s composition in the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/technology\/tech-news\/google-ai-veteran-says-phds-law-and-medical-degrees-may-become-obsolete-in-ai-era-heres-what-matters-more-now-11755929485047.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"AI era\">AI era <\/a>closely matches the pace when computers and internet were getting popular, suggesting that the new technology no more disruptive than the preceding ones.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-9\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<h2>What about college graduates?<\/h2>\n<p>The Yale study also took into account how AI might be affecting recent college graduates, comparing the job distribution of people between the ages of 20 and 24, with older adults in the age group of 25 to 34. Before that, companies could borrow massive amounts of capitals at cheap interest rates that would fuel their business.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-14\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<p>Another reason for the data can be the fact that now there are simply more college graduates with high degrees than there are entry-level jobs, a phenomenon that predates the ChatGPT era.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-15\" class=\"storyParagraph\">\n<p>\u201cWhile generative AI looks likely to join the ranks of transformative, general purpose technologies, it is too soon to tell how disruptive the technology will be to jobs,\u201d as per the Yale study.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AI job loss update: For over two years, artificial intelligence has been blamed for triggering jobs across sectors globally, especially the tech industry.
