However, when Stable opened up public deposits to its capped vault yesterday, retail users found that the team had <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/etherscan.io\/token\/0x6503de9fe77d256d9d823f2d335ce83ece9e153f#balances\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">pre-filled the vault<\/a> before the public even had a chance.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, $500 million of the total $825 million cap was pre-filled by a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pastebin.com\/umqpA7E6\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">cluster<\/a> of ten wallets directly linked to the Stable Vault owner, implying that the team took 60% of the initial allocation. <\/p>\n<figure><figcaption class=\"text-center text-xs\">Deposits 20 Minutes Prior to Announcement &#8211; Etherscan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Stable has not released any details as to why this was done, but some who are giving it the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sterlingcrispin\/status\/1981557916357579030\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">benefit of the doubt<\/a> claim that the pre-fill was funded by its partner companies, such as Concrete, Morpho, Pendle, and Frax, though this appears unlikely.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the early contributors were most likely tracking wallets onchain and snuck into the deposit vault before the announcement. However, most of the large deposits were funded via multi-signature wallets, indicating that teams likely were on standby with advance knowledge of the launch.<\/p>\n<p>The team <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/stable\/status\/1980675560239243465\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">hinted<\/a> that there would be an activation of some kind on Oct. 23, but exact timing and launch details remained unclear. Stable ended up <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/stable\/status\/1981528800572944560\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">unveiling<\/a> the $825 million capped deposit vaults at 9:10 pm EST, but those who opened the website found that the vaults had already been almost filled by fewer than 200 users, with most of them contributing almost 30 minutes prior to the public announcement.<\/p>\n<p>Stable CEO Brian Mehler <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mehler\/status\/1981566965161549828\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">posted<\/a> on social media after the raise hit its hard cap, completely ignoring the onchain evidence of pre-deposits led by the team. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are just getting started&#8230;Get ready to be part of the next chapter in global payments with<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/stable\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \"> @stable<\/a>, built for trust, scale, and reliability. Stay tuned,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Stable did not immediately respond to The Defiant\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the similarities between Plasma and Stable, which are both Bitfinex-backed stablechains, those involved with Plasma have quickly distanced themselves from Stable following the controversial launch.<\/p>\n<p>Sun Raghupathi, the cofounder and CEO of Veda Labs, which assisted with the Plasma launch, blasted the Stable team on X, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sunandr_\/status\/1981717170984735158\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">saying<\/a>, \u201cIn the<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Plasma\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \"> Plasma<\/a> predeposit, we took great pains to hide the contracts until the public announcement. Deposits were even blocked in the smart contract. This level of blatant disregard is criminal.
