He admits there may be temporary job losses but remains hopeful about technology&#8217;s potential to enhance education and progress.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-1\">\n<p>In a recent interview with The Hindustan Times (HT), <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/technology\/tech-news\/aravind-srinivas-says-comet-update-now-lets-you-control-how-the-ai-works-on-your-behalf-all-you-need-to-know-11763192884360.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"Srinivas\">Srinivas <\/a>was asked about the economic anxiety surrounding AI and concerns over job losses, particularly in a country like India.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-2\">\n<p>Emphasising on the importance of education, Srinivas said, \u201cEvery great transition in history has created this fear, but we always adapt and advance. How? It\u2019s the same way every time: through learning. Education. Increasing our knowledge, which increases the things we can do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-5\">\n<p>Acknowledging temporary <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/topic\/layoffs\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"layoffs\">layoffs<\/a>, he said, \u201cWith any new technology of automation, there is a risk of some temporary job loss, but we\u2019ve proven throughout history that we adapt and do more. The only thing that\u2019s different this time is that the technology changing the world is also very good at helping us learn. So I\u2019m optimistic.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-6\">\n<p>Perplexity CEO&#8217;s remarks come when AI is expected to bring a \u2018seismic\u2019 shift in the industries affecting the jobs of more than 1.8 crore people over three key sectors by the year 2030, according to a report by the news agency PTI.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-7\">\n<p>Concerns have also increased regarding several tech giants, including Amazon and Tata Consultancy Services (<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/topic\/tcs\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"TCS\">TCS<\/a>), which recently confirmed significant layoffs. These layoffs occur amid the growing adoption of AI across industries, raising concerns over job losses in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-10\">\n<h2>Is human connection still relevant?<\/h2>\n<p>Srinivas elaborated on how AI will change over time and the importance of human connection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-11\">\n<p>\u201cAI will be broadly transformative in ways we can\u2019t yet imagine. It might be easier to ask \u201cwhat will stay the same? First, I think we still matter to each other. AI companions may be popular now, but human connection is very important,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-12\">\n<p>He further advised, \u201cI think that we will always ask more questions. The more we can learn from AI, the better. Because we will always have a question AI can\u2019t answer, and we\u2019ll go answer it. That\u2019s how the world advances. It\u2019s the scientific process. Humans, as a species, are very curious.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"article-index-15\">\n<h2>Why is India important?<\/h2>\n<p>On making a substantial investment in India through a partnership with Airtel, Perplexity CEO said, \u201cIndia is special to me personally for obvious reasons. But as a company, we say, &#8216;here\u2019s a country that sees the world the same way we do.\u201d Which means, India values education and the search for wisdom.
