{"id":418871,"date":"2026-02-06T07:43:01","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T02:13:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/jp-morgan-strategist-prefers-bitcoin-to-gold-long-term-crypto-news-2\/"},"modified":"2026-02-06T08:47:41","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T03:17:41","slug":"jp-morgan-strategist-prefers-bitcoin-to-gold-long-term-crypto-news-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/jp-morgan-strategist-prefers-bitcoin-to-gold-long-term-crypto-news-2\/","title":{"rendered":"JP Morgan Strategist Prefers Bitcoin to Gold Long Term &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>While crypto natives lament Bitcoin\u2019s underperformance compared to precious metals, institutional traders are eyeing the digital asset.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>On one of BTC\u2019s <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/news\/markets\/ethereum-falls-below-usd2-000-as-crypto-sell-off-deepens\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">worst days in recent memory<\/a>, JP Morgan\u2019s quantitative strategist Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou is taking the contrarian approach and says that not only is Bitcoin undervalued, but it looks \u201ceven more attractive compared to gold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Panigitzoglou says that liquidations have been \u201cmore modest\u201d despite the asset\u2019s poor recent performance, and highlighted that the bitcoin-to-gold volatility ratio is at a \u201crecord low\u201d in a recent investor research note, according to <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/gold-volatility-surges-past-bitcoin-182900888.html\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">Yahoo Finance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, BTC is currently down 13.3% today compared to gold\u2019s 3% decline, so that ratio gap is closing  quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Bitcoin\u2019s stark underperformance relative to gold continues a trend that began when the new U.S. administration took office in January 2025. Gold is up 80% since Trump entered office, while BTC is down 37% over the same period.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption class=\"text-center text-xs\">BTC vs Gold Jan 2024 &#8211; Present &#8211; TradingView<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While retail crypto traders have struggled to reconcile gold\u2019s outperformance, Bitcoin analyst Willy Woo cites several reasons, including quantum computing threats and the marginal buyers in each asset class.<\/p>\n<p>On Jan. 25, Woo <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/willywoo\/status\/2015360821355037054\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">said<\/a>, \u201cIt&#8217;s really hard to convince sovereigns and fiduciary institutions to buy a nascent asset like BTC with 17 years of history (which is less than a retail home mortgage).
