{"id":419746,"date":"2026-02-15T00:13:19","date_gmt":"2026-02-14T18:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/tomasz-stanczak-to-step-down-from-ethereum-foundation-crypto-news\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T00:23:04","modified_gmt":"2026-02-14T18:53:04","slug":"tomasz-stanczak-to-step-down-from-ethereum-foundation-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/tomasz-stanczak-to-step-down-from-ethereum-foundation-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Tomasz Sta\u0144czak to Step Down from Ethereum Foundation &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bastian Aue will take over the co-executive director role alongside Hsiao-Wei.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Tomasz Sta\u0144czak said on Friday he will step down as co-executive director of the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/news\/regulation\/former-ethereum-developer-virgil-griffith-released-prison-after-63-months-u-s-on-a4ba04c9\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">Ethereum Foundation (EF)<\/a> at the end of February.<\/p>\n<p>Sta\u0144czak, who has served in the role for around a year, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tkstanczak\/status\/2022315368430067847\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">said in a post on X<\/a> that Bastian Aue will take over as interim co-ED alongside current co-ED Hsiao-Wei. He added in a separate <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.ethereum.org\/2026\/02\/13\/tomasz-update\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">blog post<\/a> that the foundation is in a strong place with \u201cnew voices\u201d, making it a good time for a leadership change. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am happy with the current state of things; the roadmap is clearer; the goals are set; the leaders at the EF grew more confident about making decisions by themselves and owning more,\u201d Sta\u0144czak said. <\/p>\n<p>The EF is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/news\/infrastructure\/ethereum-foundation-creates-ai-team\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">Ethereum ecosystem<\/a>, which currently has a total value locked (TVL) of over $56 billion, making it the largest smart contract blockchain, according to DeFiLlama. Ethereum\u2019s native token, Ether (ETH), is currently trading at $2,062, up 4.4% on the day. <\/p>\n<p>Sta\u0144czak\u2019s role as co-ED focused on improving efficiency and building ties with builders, institutions, and the broader community. He added that the foundation\u2019s key goals \u2013 including faster decision-making, better communication, clearer policies, and greater transparency \u2013 have either been completed or are improving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been important for me, over the last year, to present the role of the EF co-ED as impactful and desirable, a position where one can make a meaningful difference by empowering people of extraordinary talent and dedication, both at the EF and more broadly in the Ethereum ecosystem,\u201d Sta\u0144czak wrote. <\/p>\n<div class=\"mb-4\">\n<div>\n<article class=\"yt-lite lyt-activated\" data-title=\"\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/-N2wepJxt84\/hqdefault.jpg);--aspect-ratio:56.25%\"><button type=\"button\" class=\"lty-playbtn\" aria-label=\"Watch \"\/><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" title=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/-N2wepJxt84?mute=1&#038;enablejsapi=1\"><\/iframe><\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ethereum co-founder <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thedefiant.io\/news\/people\/vitalik-proposes-decentralized-governance-model-for-russia-s-future\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">Vitalik Buterin<\/a> <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/VitalikButerin\/status\/2022318344288792618\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">responded to the news on X<\/a>, praising Sta\u0144czak\u2019s work and creativity. Buterin said Sta\u0144czak helped improve the foundation by bringing \u201cfresh new energy,\u201d and pushing the EF to think more about how AI could change blockchain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to seeing the exciting work that Tomasz will continue to do, both within Ethereum and outside,\u201d Buterin added. <\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, Sta\u0144czak said the foundation is working on a long-term plan for Ethereum, scaling the network with Layer 2s (L2s), and researching post-quantum security. He also said there\u2019s a strong focus on expanding work in decentralized AI.<\/p>\n<p>Sta\u0144czak concluded that he plans to continue working directly with founders in both frontier tech and Ethereum. \u201cI want to see and support the realization of the vision that I have talked about over the last years,\u201d he said. \u201cIt is one of the most exciting times to be a builder on Ethereum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Aue said in a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/aerugoettinea\/status\/2022318885047779576\" target=\"__blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer \">post<\/a> on X that the role is not something that he takes \u201clightly,\u201d given the \u201cweight of responsibility.\u201d He added that the decisions he makes \u201cwill be guided by a principled insistence on the properties of what we&#8217;re building (censorship resistance, open source, privacy, security).\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bastian Aue will take over the co-executive director role alongside Hsiao-Wei.
