A man in Pennsylvania has admitted to draining millions of dollars from people\u2019s bank accounts in a massive fraud scheme.<\/p>\n
According<\/a> to Pennsylvania\u2019s Attorney General, 23-year-old Jeremy Antuan Boria Fraticelli, alongside his accomplices, defrauded banks and their customers of over $3 million in three counties of the Keystone State.<\/p>\n Fraticelli and his accomplices relied on a strategy of posing as banks\u2019 customer service representatives and tricking the lenders\u2019 customers into giving them their personally identifying information.<\/p>\n The sensitive information was then used to make withdrawals from the victims\u2019 accounts. The money was subsequently deposited into accounts controlled by Fraticelli and his accomplices.<\/p>\n According to the Attorney General, the gang\u2019s scheme \u201cdefrauded numerous unsuspecting Pennsylvanians who thought they were speaking with individuals who were trying to protect them.\u201d<\/p>\n Fraticelli has been sentenced to up to nearly two years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of identity theft and theft of property. He has also been ordered to make his victims whole.<\/p>\n \u201cThis week, he was sentenced to one year (minus one day) to 23 months in prison, followed by five years of probation, and ordered to pay more than $537,000 in restitution.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Besides Fraticelli, 23 other people or co-conspirators were charged with impersonating banks\u2019 customer service representatives to obtain their personal information.
