The sector is still a niche market, valued at approximately $900 million compared to the trillions in global equities<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/bank-regulation\/2026\/tokenized-securities-move-closer-mainstream-finance-after-new-guidance\/\">tokenized stocks<\/a>\u00a0are structured as derivative contracts, which means investors often lack the legal protections, voting rights, and direct dividends enjoyed by traditional shareholders. In addition, the WSJ said, critics warn that 24\/7 markets could lead to impaired decision-making and burnout among professional traders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In another sign of tokenization\u2019s\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/bank-regulation\/2026\/tokenized-securities-move-closer-mainstream-finance-after-new-guidance\/\">move to the mainstream<\/a>, federal banking agencies last month issued guidance reaffirming that the existing U.S. banking capital framework is essentially technology-neutral.
