{"id":427851,"date":"2026-05-21T04:35:46","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T23:05:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/missouri-ag-sues-crypto-atm-operator-coinflip-for-enabling-scams-crypto-news\/"},"modified":"2026-05-21T04:41:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T23:11:07","slug":"missouri-ag-sues-crypto-atm-operator-coinflip-for-enabling-scams-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/missouri-ag-sues-crypto-atm-operator-coinflip-for-enabling-scams-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Missouri AG Sues Crypto ATM Operator CoinFlip \u2018For Enabling Scams\u2019 &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div data-testid=\"post__body\">\n<p>Missouri is suing the company behind cryptocurrency ATM operator CoinFlip for \u201cknowingly facilitating fraudulent transactions and profiting from them,\u201d in the latest move by a US state authority targeting digital currency kiosks and ATMs.<\/p>\n<p>In a Wednesday notice, the office of Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ago.mo.gov\/attorney-general-hanaway-files-suit-against-crypto-atm-network-for-enabling-scams\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said<\/a> the lawsuit against GPD Holdings, doing business as CoinFlip, was in response to incidents of fraud, including against the state&#8217;s \u201cseniors and veterans.\u201d The state began a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ago.mo.gov\/attorney-general-hanaway-launches-investigation-into-companies-using-bitcoin-atms-to-scam-missourians\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">probe<\/a> in December into several crypto ATM companies, including Bitcoin Depot, which <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/bitcoin-depot-stock-crash-chapter-11-bankruptcy\">recently filed for bankruptcy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Missouri lawsuit against CoinFlip. Source: <\/em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ago.mo.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coinflip-Petition-Final.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><em>Missouri AG<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Attorney General\u2019s Office is asking the Court to declare that CoinFlip\u2019s practices violate the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act; to enjoin CoinFlip from operating in Missouri; to impose civil penalties of $1,000 per violation over the past five years (up to $1,826,000); and to award restitution to consumers,\u201d said the AG\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>According to CoinFlip\u2019s website, the company operates 136 crypto kiosks in <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/locations.coinflip.tech\/us\/mo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Missouri<\/a>, and 4,229 in the US.<\/p>\n<p>In recent months, ATM operators like Bitcoin Depot, CoinFlip and others have been repeatedly <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/tennessee-crypto-kiosk-atm-ban-july\">targeted by US state authorities<\/a> and municipalities which have passed laws and ordinances restricting or outright banning the technology. <\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Related: <\/strong><\/em><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/minnesota-ban-crypto-kiosks-scams\"><em><strong>Minnesota to weigh ban on crypto kiosks after scam reports<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<figure style=\"text-align: center;\"><img alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/s3-images.ctmedia.io\/media\/content\/screenshot-2026-05-20-at-31400-pm.png\" width=\"782\" height=\"742\" data-original=\"https:\/\/s3-images.ctmedia.io\/media\/content\/screenshot-2026-05-20-at-31400-pm.png\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Warning about fraud from May 2025.
