Three firms have agreed to settle a class action lawsuit filed over accusations that sensitive user data was shared with third-party companies without consent.<\/p>\n
According to the newly updated settlement administrator portal, the period and ovulation tracker app Flo Health allegedly shared<\/a> users\u2019 menstruation and\/or pregnancy data with third-party firms after incorporating software development kits (SDKs) provided by Flurry, Meta and Google.<\/p>\n The plaintiffs claim that the practice is against the law and violates<\/a> Flo Health\u2019s privacy policy, which states that it will not \u201ctransmit any of your personal data to third parties\u2026 unless we have asked for your explicit consent.\u201d<\/p>\n Google has agreed to pay $48 million, Flo $8 million and Flurry $3.5 million for a total of $59.5 million.<\/p>\n The settlement fund will be distributed<\/a> to users who file a claim on a pro-rata basis after paying expenses, such as administration costs, service awards, taxes and litigation expenses.
