{"id":435245,"date":"2026-07-27T23:13:37","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T17:43:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/circle-buys-ibms-blockchain-patents-to-boost-payments-network-crypto-news\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T23:27:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T17:57:16","slug":"circle-buys-ibms-blockchain-patents-to-boost-payments-network-crypto-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dripp.zone\/news\/circle-buys-ibms-blockchain-patents-to-boost-payments-network-crypto-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Circle Buys IBM\u2019s Blockchain Patents to Boost Payments Network &#8211; Crypto News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>Digital financial platform <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.circle.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Circle<\/a> acquired <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/us-en\">IBM<\/a>\u2019s blockchain patent portfolio, according to a Monday (July 27) <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.circle.com\/pressroom\/circle-acquires-ibm-blockchain-patent-portfolio\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"article-paywall-hidden-content\">\n<p>\u201cWith this acquisition, Circle becomes the leader in blockchain patent holdings in the United States,\u201d the release said. \u201cThe expanded IP position directly supports Circle\u2019s foundation for building the internet financial system, including <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usdc.com\/\">USDC<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.circle.com\/cpn\">Circle Payments Network<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.arc.io\/\">Arc<\/a>, and a growing suite of on-chain products and agentic financial tools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The IBM portfolio consists of more than 680 patent families and close to 1,000 issued patents, covering banking, financial services, insurance, enterprise infrastructure, supply chain verification, secure cloud operations, and foundational blockchain technology, according to the release.
