All other top 10 non-stablecoin cryptos also strengthened, with <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/forkast.news\/what-is-polygon-matic-ethereums-internet-blockchains\/\">Polygon<\/a> Leading gains followed by Tron.  Investors continue to monitor US debt ceiling negotiations.  Asian equities fell and US stock futures slipped. Part 1<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Top 10 cryptos rise;  Hotbit shuts operations<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Bitcoin, the world&#8217;s largest cryptocurrency, rose 1.71% to US$27,309 in the 24 hours to 4 pm in Hong Kong, bringing its weekly gains to 0.18%, according to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/\">CoinMarketCap<\/a> data. <\/p>\n<p>Ethereum, the world&#8217;s second largest cryptocurrency, gained 2.35% to US$1,854, after rising 1.72% on the week. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMonetary policy remains a potent force for crypto markets and volatility could be fueled by a number of interventions from various [U.S.] Federal Reserve members and other central bankers today and during the week,&#8221; Denys Peleshok, head of Asia at London-based financial trading firm CPT Markets, said in an email. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore aggressive comments from Federal Reserve members could put some pressure on Bitcoin and Ethereum,\u201d Peleshok added.<\/p>\n<p>Polygon&#8217;s Matic token climbed the most, gaining 3.24% to US$0.8812, and is up 2.01% on the week. <\/p>\n<p>Tron was the second biggest gainer in 24 hours, rising 2.78% to US$0.07861, and has gained 11.43% over the past seven days. <\/p>\n<p>The total crypto market volume rose 35.99% to US$30.69 billion, while the global crypto market capitalization strengthened 1.54% to US$1.14 trillion. <\/p>\n<p>Among crypto exchanges, Hong Kong-based Hotbit is the latest to cease operations, raising investor concerns that more exchanges may shut as regulations tighten.  The exchange has asked all users to withdraw their remaining assets before June 21.<\/p>\n<p>In August last year, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/hotbit.zendesk.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/8074249353495\">hotbit said<\/a> it was forced to suspend operations for several weeks due to an investigation regarding a former Hotbit employee&#8217;s involvement in a project that violated laws. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCentralized exchanges (CEX) are becoming increasingly cumbersome, with highly complex and interconnected businesses that are difficult to comply with, whether for compliance or decentralization, and are unlikely to meet long-term trends,\u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/hotbit.zendesk.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/14750194236823-It-s-time-to-take-a-bow\">hotbit said<\/a> on tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe industry has experienced a series of crises, including the collapse of FTX, bank crises causing USDC off-peg incidents, resulting in continuous outflows of funds from CEX users, including Hotbit, and deteriorating cash flow,\u201d it added. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ethereum 24-hour NFT sales drop<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/indexes.forkastlabs.xyz\/ticker?symbol=FK500&#038;symbol=FKETH\" height=\"96px\" width=\"100%\" style=\"border: 0\" title=\"CryptoSlam indexes widget\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/indexes.forkastlabs.xyz\/ticker?symbol=FKSOL&#038;symbol=FKPOL\" height=\"96px\" width=\"100%\" style=\"border: 0\" title=\"CryptoSlam indexes widget\"><\/iframe><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/indexes.forkastlabs.xyz\/ticker?symbol=FKCAR\" height=\"96px\" width=\"100%\" style=\"border: 0\" title=\"CryptoSlam indexes widget\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left is-style-meta is-style-small has-purple-grey-color has-text-color\"><strong>The indexes are proxy measures of the performance of the global NFT market.  They are managed by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cryptoslam.io\/\">CryptoSlam<\/a>a sister company of Forkast.News under the Forkast.Labs umbrella.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/forkast.news\/topic\/index\/fk500\/\">Forex 500 NFT index<\/a> inched down 0.1% to 3,391.49 points in the 24 hours to 4:30 pm in Hong Kong while declining 0.01% during the week.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/forkast.news\/what-is-ethereum-and-how-can-it-become-the-future-of-blockchain\/\">Ethereum<\/a>&#8216;s 24-hour NFT sales fell 9.39% to US$13.5 million as sales for the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/forkast.news\/bored-apes-yacht-club-nft-explainer\/\">Bored Ape Yacht Club<\/a>, the largest Ethereum-based collection, also fell 31.69% to US$327,858. The S&#038;P 500 futures index inched down 0.071% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 0.14%.<\/p>\n<p>China may face a tough economic path ahead, after it <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/business-65667746\">banned<\/a> products made by US memory chip maker Micron Technology, citing &#8220;network security issues&#8221;, indicating rising tensions between two of the world&#8217;s biggest economies. <\/p>\n<p>British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/videos\/toi-original\/british-pm-rishi-sunak-says-china-poses-biggest-threat-to-global-security\/videoshow\/100428115.cms\">reportedly said<\/a> during a Group of Seven (G7) summit that China poses the biggest challenge to global security and prosperity and is increasingly authoritarian at home and assertive abroad. <\/p>\n<p>This adds to China&#8217;s potential economic woes, as it <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/world\/china-braces-for-new-covid-19-wave-with-up-to-65-million-weekly-cases-16728131.htm\">faces<\/a> a new Covid-19 wave that may have as many as 65 million cases per week by the end of June.  This follows after the world&#8217;s second largest economy has been struggling to recover from three years of pandemic-induced disruptions. <\/p>\n<p>The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/english.sse.com.cn\/\">shanghai composite<\/a> dropped 1.52% and the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.szse.cn\/English\/\">Shenzhen Component Index<\/a> lost 1.03%.
