At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 5, Apple announced a new Airdrop feature called “NameDrop” that lets users seamlessly share their phone numbers with another person. Through NameDrop, users just have to bring their phones close together for them to share contact details with each other.

One can choose to share their phone numbers and email addresses. Users can use NameDrop with an iPhone and an Apple watch too. Users can also share photos the same way, by simply bringing their phones together. If the file is a big one, one now move out of range while continuing the download.

“We’re also using this same gesture to make it easier than ever to Airdrop content and even kickoff shared experiences,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, during the event. you took on your latest adventure. Again, just bring your phones close together.”

Furthermore, Apple updated the keyboard input method in iOS 17 and enhanced the automatic correction function. Apple said it upgraded to a new language model and simplified existing shortcuts and enhanced dictation.

iOS 17 will also allow users to share experiences via SharePlay. By bringing two iPhones together, users will be able to use SharePlay to watch the same live stream or listen to the same playlist simultaneously with someone else.

“For those times when someone is sending over a ton of photos or a large video file, and you need to step away you can now leave AirDrop range and your content will continue to send securely in full quality over the internet,” Craig Federighi, Apple’s Software Engineering SVP said during the keynote presentation.

According to the tech giant, Apple iOS 17 pays more attention to the optimization of details, focusing on adjusting the lock screen interface. It also introduces a feature for editing and canceling sending messages to iMessage. Also, with the new system, Smart Island can support real-time activities such as game scores etc.
