Meta-owned WhatsApp will soon roll out some interesting new features for Android users including the Channel alerts feature, search messages by date feature and a feature that hides navigation labels and top bar while scrolling through the app.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has rolled out the new Channel alerts feature with WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.26.6 update and will roll out to all users in the coming days. The report notes that the new feature helps enhance the experience for Channel users by giving them real-time data about the suspension of their channel. Channel administrators can find out about violations of WhatsApp guidelines using the Channel Alerts feature and also request the social media company to review their suspension under the Channel Alerts screen. 

The WABetaInfo report notes that the Channel Alerts feature is likely to bring more transparency to the platform by providing the users with the ability to discover issues with their channels and outlining the actions that need to be taken to address them.

 Moreover, the social media giant is also rolling out two new features on its Android app in the coming days: a) hiding navigation labels and top app bar while scrolling down the screen and b) ability to search messages by date. 

The report notes that the hiding of navigation labels and top app bar will likely provide users with a larger view of their chats, call logs, community group chats and channels. Meanwhile, the search messages by date feature could make the process of going through the chat history and finding out some specific messages more efficient and convenient.

Notably, the messaging service is also keen on adding integration to Instagram via a new status update feature. According to another report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will soon allow its users to share their status updates directly as Stories on Instagram, theoretically saving users a lot of time.
